During the Renaissance period, perfumes were given to primarily by royalty and the moneyed to mask figure odors resulting from the sanitary practices of the day. Partly due to this patronage, the western perfumery multinational was created. By the 18th century, Discount Perfume aromatic plants were being grown in the Grasse region of France to provide the growing perfume monopoly with raw materials. Even today, France remains the centre of the European perfume design and trade.
The job of composing perfumes that will sell is left up to an expert on perfume composition or manifest in the fragrance corporation as the perfumer. They are also sometimes referred to affectionately as a "Nez" (French for nose) due to their fine sense of detect and skill in trace composition.
